What is an LED TV?

- Edge-lit LEDs with Local Dimming – LEDs also positioned around the TV frame top and bottom edges with added benefit of local dimming to allow for deeper blacks, whiter whites and greater contrasts.
- Full Back-lit LEDs (also called Full-Array) – LEDs are positioned in clusters across the entire back of the panel with local dimming* to deliver even greater control over light and dark colour levels.
* Be sure to ask if the Full Back-lit LED TV has local dimming to get the best LED picture. Models vary.
What Features Should I Consider When Shopping for an LED TV?
When shopping for an LED TV, you will need to be familiar with the language used. Each manufacturer may refer to their features using different terms; however some features run across all manufacturers. Key considerations include:
- Edge-lit vs. Full Back-lit LED

- screen size
- picture quality

Pixels are also an important consideration. For example, an LED with 720P has about 1 million pixels whereas a 1080P frame has double that at about 2 million.
