Emperial Live Ceremony
Emperor managed one full-scale tour in the course of their 10-year history. Emperial Live Ceremony, which documents a 1999 London performance, brings their riff-laden songs and lofty odes to the night spirits down to earth. A 45-minute set pulls together tracks from Into the Nightside Eclipse, Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk, and IX Equilibrium, while newer tracks such as "An Elegy of Icaros" recapture the savagery that Emperor lost as the group crept toward ever-loftier summits in the 1990s. The demo oldie "Night of the Graveless Souls, " meanwhile, fuses the gaps between black metal and progressive thrash.
